Lost iPod + GadgetTrak = Great Success =)

I think we can all agree that gadget theft has been an unfortunate growing annoyance worldwide. I mean I was pretty annoyed when my iTouch went missing a week ago. A couple months ago I downloaded an app for free called GadgetTrak. It is available on the Apple website and the software can actually be installed on any USB-connecting device (blackberrys, Mac Labtops). After I lost my iPod I immediately logged in to GadgetTrak and saw a connection near a coffe shop I was at earlier that day. I called them up and sure enough they had it! GadgetTrak has recovered many other devices. Check them out here: http://www.gadgettrak.com/blog/category/recoveries/

Was PR Writing helpful?

The public realtions writing course has significantly helped me and also improved my pr writing skills. I have fostered new abilities that I will definitely take with me when I graduate and use in the future. This course is so important because it focuses on the basics such as how to write a press release, media pitch, proposal, feature article, how to put together a media kit and numerous other things. As for completing my degree, this class was require, with good reason. I can now intern for a company and show my previous work and have a clue on what to do when I am asked to draft a press release or pitch an idea. Thank you Prof. Matthews and PR Writing, you rule !!! =]

Opinion Pieces

You know what they say, opinions are like a*******, everyone has one! But on a more serious note, I tend to enjoy reading opinion pieces in local newspapers or online. I am always curious to find out what people think about certain subjects. Whether it ranges from sports to cooking or any strange topic it is interesting to read what other people are thinking! I like it best when I read an opinion piece that I agree with because I feel a sense of "Welp I'm not the only one!"

Experiences Learned Working on Group Projects!

As this project coming to an end I have to say it was not as easy as I thought it would be. It takes a lot of work to publicize an upcoming event. Crossing your fingers and hoping people will show is extremely nerve-racking. My group's event is taking place this Wednesday and it would kind of suck to have no one come out and support The Starlight Foundation. One benefit of working with a group on this kind of project is that not just one person has to do everything! It's nice to delegate a job to everyone so the weight isn't on one person's shoulders. If I took away anything from this group project it is don't wait to the last minute!!! I really wish we could have started these projects earlier so we would have had more time publicize our event and to also raise our intended money goal. Hopefully my group and I will continue to sell our bracelets after the semester so were not just stuck with them and The Starlight Foundation gets enough money to purchase a fun center for a local hospital =]

VIVA LAS VEGAS !

Today I received this lovely invitation =] In 12 more days I will be in the fabulous Las Vegas to celebrate my friend Angel Porrino'a 21st birthday. For those of you who don't know her, Angel is Holly Madison's personal assistant. She has been on several episodes of The Girls Next Door and is currently filming Holly's World in Las Vegas right now. With classes ending two days before I leave I am super excited to take a mini vacation and have some fun in the sun with my girlfriends. I guess I will have to study for finals on my returning flight home! Booo =/

Professor Elian FTW (for the win)

This semester I decided to suck it up and get SPCM 234-Public Speaking over and done with! For those of you who have taken it, how freakin awesome is Professor Elian?! And for those of you haven't yet, TAKE HIM! I just completed my last and final speech for the class yesterday and I thought I would have a complete sigh of relief but I am actually kind of sad =[ I have definitely improved my speaking in public dramatically and I am grateful this class was required for the communications major, or I probably would never have even considered taking it! I wish Professor Elian would teach more communication courses because I really enjoyed this course and would most likely enjoy any other courses he taught. Apparently the only other course is teaches is advanced public speaking. I plan on taking that next if I can fit it in my grueling schedule!

Big Ben Your Killing Me!

Okay so as you all should know I have an imcomparable love for the Pittsburgh Steelers! So I am sure that you NFL football fans know what is going on with the Steelers' quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Commisioner Roger Goodell notified Ben yesterday that he must 1) undergo a comprehensive behavioral evaluation by medical professionals and 2) will be suspended without pay for the first six games of the regular season for conduct deterimental to the NFL in violation of the league's Personal Conduct Policy. Not only do I not agree with this punishment but talk is surfacing that the Steelers might be trading Ben!!! I absolutely hope these are just rumors because I have an undenying love for Ben Roethlisberger as well as the rest of my Steelers =] I guess I will have to watch the draft these next three days and wait it out =/

Group Work

Personally, I enjoy group projects. I think the more brains the better! People feed off of each other's ideas and come up with a lot of great stuff. With this project, the only thing I'm worried about is not meeting our goal in time =/ I'm sure it will come together but the semester it coming to a close, and quickly! I think if we had started this earlier we would have had more time to successfully raise the $$$ we need to. Hopefully we can pull it off in these last few weeks =]

Another Day, Another Cheating Scumbag!

Former New York Giants running back and current NBC Today Show and Football Night in America correspondent Tiki Barber announced that he and his wife, Ginny, are calling it quits after 11 years and two children - soon to be four as Ginny is 8 months pregnant with twins. Here's Tiki's official statement:

"After 11 years of marriage, Ginny and I have decided to seperate. This decision was a painful one, but we are moving foward amicably and will continue to work together to raise our children with the love and dedication they have always known."

It is a nice statement and all, but Tiki left out a ton of important information. Like, Traci Johnson, the 23-year old NBC intern he has been secretly dating for at least three years now.

To make matters even worse, Tiki has condemned his own father in the past for doing the same thing!

"I dont give a [bleep] that the realtionship didn't work," he said of his parents' split in a 2004 interview. "Not only did he abandon her, I felt like he abandoned us for a portion of our lives. I have a hard time forgiving that."

Nice going, Tiki.
