They're Baaacckkk !!!!!

The Real Housewives of New Jersey premiered the first episode of their second season last night on Bravo and I couldn't be more excited for this trashy tv! Jacqeuline has a new baby, Teresa has a fourth on the way, Danielle is still acting like a baby, and Dina seems to have a new child aka her cat Ladybug! As for Caroline, she emains her old self making blunt comments such as, "when you hang around garbage you start to stink!" Apparently the second season will be filled with just as much drama as the first, if not more, and I cannot wait to watch it all. I also attended the Lady Bug Charity event @ The Brownstone last June which Bravo was filming at. Hopefully I will catch myself in an episode this season, who knows!

Lost iPod + GadgetTrak = Great Success =)

I think we can all agree that gadget theft has been an unfortunate growing annoyance worldwide. I mean I was pretty annoyed when my iTouch went missing a week ago. A couple months ago I downloaded an app for free called GadgetTrak. It is available on the Apple website and the software can actually be installed on any USB-connecting device (blackberrys, Mac Labtops). After I lost my iPod I immediately logged in to GadgetTrak and saw a connection near a coffe shop I was at earlier that day. I called them up and sure enough they had it! GadgetTrak has recovered many other devices. Check them out here: http://www.gadgettrak.com/blog/category/recoveries/

Was PR Writing helpful?

The public realtions writing course has significantly helped me and also improved my pr writing skills. I have fostered new abilities that I will definitely take with me when I graduate and use in the future. This course is so important because it focuses on the basics such as how to write a press release, media pitch, proposal, feature article, how to put together a media kit and numerous other things. As for completing my degree, this class was require, with good reason. I can now intern for a company and show my previous work and have a clue on what to do when I am asked to draft a press release or pitch an idea. Thank you Prof. Matthews and PR Writing, you rule !!! =]

Opinion Pieces

You know what they say, opinions are like a*******, everyone has one! But on a more serious note, I tend to enjoy reading opinion pieces in local newspapers or online. I am always curious to find out what people think about certain subjects. Whether it ranges from sports to cooking or any strange topic it is interesting to read what other people are thinking! I like it best when I read an opinion piece that I agree with because I feel a sense of "Welp I'm not the only one!"

Experiences Learned Working on Group Projects!

As this project coming to an end I have to say it was not as easy as I thought it would be. It takes a lot of work to publicize an upcoming event. Crossing your fingers and hoping people will show is extremely nerve-racking. My group's event is taking place this Wednesday and it would kind of suck to have no one come out and support The Starlight Foundation. One benefit of working with a group on this kind of project is that not just one person has to do everything! It's nice to delegate a job to everyone so the weight isn't on one person's shoulders. If I took away anything from this group project it is don't wait to the last minute!!! I really wish we could have started these projects earlier so we would have had more time publicize our event and to also raise our intended money goal. Hopefully my group and I will continue to sell our bracelets after the semester so were not just stuck with them and The Starlight Foundation gets enough money to purchase a fun center for a local hospital =]

VIVA LAS VEGAS !

Today I received this lovely invitation =] In 12 more days I will be in the fabulous Las Vegas to celebrate my friend Angel Porrino'a 21st birthday. For those of you who don't know her, Angel is Holly Madison's personal assistant. She has been on several episodes of The Girls Next Door and is currently filming Holly's World in Las Vegas right now. With classes ending two days before I leave I am super excited to take a mini vacation and have some fun in the sun with my girlfriends. I guess I will have to study for finals on my returning flight home! Booo =/

Professor Elian FTW (for the win)

This semester I decided to suck it up and get SPCM 234-Public Speaking over and done with! For those of you who have taken it, how freakin awesome is Professor Elian?! And for those of you haven't yet, TAKE HIM! I just completed my last and final speech for the class yesterday and I thought I would have a complete sigh of relief but I am actually kind of sad =[ I have definitely improved my speaking in public dramatically and I am grateful this class was required for the communications major, or I probably would never have even considered taking it! I wish Professor Elian would teach more communication courses because I really enjoyed this course and would most likely enjoy any other courses he taught. Apparently the only other course is teaches is advanced public speaking. I plan on taking that next if I can fit it in my grueling schedule!

Big Ben Your Killing Me!

Okay so as you all should know I have an imcomparable love for the Pittsburgh Steelers! So I am sure that you NFL football fans know what is going on with the Steelers' quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Commisioner Roger Goodell notified Ben yesterday that he must 1) undergo a comprehensive behavioral evaluation by medical professionals and 2) will be suspended without pay for the first six games of the regular season for conduct deterimental to the NFL in violation of the league's Personal Conduct Policy. Not only do I not agree with this punishment but talk is surfacing that the Steelers might be trading Ben!!! I absolutely hope these are just rumors because I have an undenying love for Ben Roethlisberger as well as the rest of my Steelers =] I guess I will have to watch the draft these next three days and wait it out =/

Group Work

Personally, I enjoy group projects. I think the more brains the better! People feed off of each other's ideas and come up with a lot of great stuff. With this project, the only thing I'm worried about is not meeting our goal in time =/ I'm sure it will come together but the semester it coming to a close, and quickly! I think if we had started this earlier we would have had more time to successfully raise the $$$ we need to. Hopefully we can pull it off in these last few weeks =]

Another Day, Another Cheating Scumbag!

Former New York Giants running back and current NBC Today Show and Football Night in America correspondent Tiki Barber announced that he and his wife, Ginny, are calling it quits after 11 years and two children - soon to be four as Ginny is 8 months pregnant with twins. Here's Tiki's official statement:

"After 11 years of marriage, Ginny and I have decided to seperate. This decision was a painful one, but we are moving foward amicably and will continue to work together to raise our children with the love and dedication they have always known."

It is a nice statement and all, but Tiki left out a ton of important information. Like, Traci Johnson, the 23-year old NBC intern he has been secretly dating for at least three years now.

To make matters even worse, Tiki has condemned his own father in the past for doing the same thing!

"I dont give a [bleep] that the realtionship didn't work," he said of his parents' split in a 2004 interview. "Not only did he abandon her, I felt like he abandoned us for a portion of our lives. I have a hard time forgiving that."

Nice going, Tiki.

Winter Olmypics: Ciao, Adios, Njichaabira, Au Revoir !!

(Those silly words in the headline mean goodbye, for the less cultures TYPer's lol)

The Winter Olympics came to a close a few days ago, and what an exciting few weeks it has been in Vancouver! Everyone's top moments differ, but mine had to be the emergence of Sidney Crosby from he Candian Hockey team, the Canadia Women's Tockey Team's kick-ass, on ice celebration, and of course Joannie Rochette's brave skate for the bronze medal.

See you in 2014!

Nestle Hotline

I think this idea was a great marketing strategy. Job well done Nestle! Previously I had never heard about it until reading the article. The idea of the hotline shows a "fun" side to this company. It definitely was a great way to reel people in because I was very curious when I read about it. Not to say I immediately ran out to pick myself up a Nestle's crunch bar, but next time one catches my eye I will definitely think about this!

Soutwest Airlines BIG Mistake!

Pulling film director Kevin Smith off his flight because of his "size" has got the limelight on Southwest Airlines. Kevin Smith was pulled off the plane for being "too big" and not having two seats for the flight when he actually does fit in one, very bizarre! Southwest did not handle this situation well at all and is now saying they "could have potentially handled their communication better." Well that's for sure! Before this incident Southwest had the lowest number of customer complaints among US airlines in the past year. Southwest PR is really going to have to do some damage control here. I feel people now who are the least bit on the heavyside will be afraid to use this airline because of this incident. They are going to have to come up with something pretty damn good to fix this catastrophe.

Disastrous Publicity Stunts!

When it comes to disastrous publicity stunts a few stand out in my mind. The most recent one I can think of was Balloon Boy! This is the boy who supposedly floated away in a homemade air craft/balloon made by his father. The stunt this family conducted clearly went very very wrong. This was just was just one big PR disaster that the whole world knew about that was this family's quest for their 15 minutes of fame! All this family has to look foward to now is prison time and serious fines.

Another stunt gone wrong I will always remember was Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake's performance during Superbowl XXXVIII. Janet's right breast was revealed while singing on stage. MTV had claimed they had no prior knowledge of the stunt and called it unplanned, unrehearsed, and completely unintentional. CBS was fined $550,000 by the FCC. To this day I wonder if it really was a "wardrobe malfunction?"

PR Stunts

Entrepreneaur Magazine released an article highlighting 5 of the worst and 10 of the best publicity stunts. I had never heard of any of these stunts before, but I definitely had a few laughs reading this article. All these publicity stunts were very interesting. I think the Vodafone one with having two mean run across the field naked was not the smartest but definitely most hilarious. My favorite stunt was snapple who attempted to build the world's largest popsicle in Times Square in NY but failed at this attempt when it started to melt and cover the streets in a stick mess!

Has Twitter Peaked?

I honestly don't know much about Twitter. None of my close friends have one so I never really got sucked in! I can only spend so much time networking and right now Facebook is enough for me. After reading the article I am going to have to disagree and say that Twitter isn't so hot anymore. I remember it being real big when it started and now, ehh not so much. Maybe I am just biased to facebook but I don't think it is as big or ever will be.

About Me =)

Welcome! I am pretty new at this blog thing but I am sure I will get the hang of it soon enough. I am getting rather frustrated with these templates and how to change the set-up of this page but I am determined to figure it all out. My close friends are always telling me to write down my daily ridiculous thoughts and encounters so maybe this blog thing will be good for me.

If I wasn't required to write blogs weekly for my public relations writing course I probably would not have experimented with this. I never thought of myself as a great writer so I hope to greatly improve by the end of this course.

Other than the topics assigned I plan to blog about everything and anything. My life can get a little crazy so it may get pretty random! Hopefully I will enjoy this and possibly continue with it once this PR writing course is completed. I guess we'll have to wait and see ;)
